hey, hope all is well.
I have a problem with my 2500, basically my mpc's usb was working absolutely fine, no problems, then I came to transfer some sounds from my lap top to my mpc, I went through the usual process, mode, load, usb but then I didn't hear the ''bading'' noise that the lap top makes when it has recognised a new device, I looked at the screen and a message displayed something along the lines of, 'the device you are trying to connect cannot be recognised or may be corrupt'
I will list the things I did with my 2500 in the hours running up to the event...
I loaded some sounds from a cf card that came from an mpc1k (maybe it tried to install jjos2xl for the 1k and that messed things up)
I dragged the internal sounds off my memory card and onto my lap top (I just got the 2500)
I accidentally loaded some acid files onto the mpc.
I can't totally remember because by this time I was drunk but I MIGHT have clicked ''heal'' when my mpc showed a trojan or whatever virus.....yes I know that mpc's can't get a virus but I'm pretty sure I remember avg saying it had a trojan or something.
To my knowlegde NON of the above would matter because doesn't the usb just read either the memory card or hd, in my case it could only be the cf card as I don't yet have a hd.
The steps I have taken to try an fix this are, did a factory restore (held down delete while turning on), formated the memory card, reinstalled os2xl, but also tried the usb before re installing os2xl.
It definately can't be the lead I'm using because I've tried 3 different leads, it can't be a lap top problem cos I've tried 2 different lap tops, and it can't be the memory card because I've tried the same memory card in the mpc1k and that hooks up with usb no problems.
I really can't think what this problem will be, the craziest and most frustrating thing is that It will work every now and again, maybe 1 in 15 attempts.
I installed some REALLY cheap ram, but then again ram is ram is it not? and ram couldn't effect this anyway could it?
I'm TOTALLY CONFUSSED!
any help or advice would be great, maybe this is one for the akai call centre eh? although they are terrible...
