Teething problem regarding Sampling

Hi there, I'm very new to the MPC 2500, or any MPC for that matter, so please don't think I'm just being dumb if I pose some questions that seem easy to you, lol. Basically I'm trying to load a sample into my MPC via the 32MB CF card it came with. It seems to be loading into the MPC ok but when I am in the "load" menu and select the wav file i want to sample from, and press "play" it doesnt play and when I "press "do it" i get a "Wrong file!!" message. Any ideas why this could be? It recognises it as a wav file, but as I said it doesnt seem to want to play/open it.

maybe it's the memory card

One of these things is wrong:

either the samples are not WAV

they are not 16 bit

the sampling rate isnt 44.1

or the name of the sample exceeds the 16 character limit

Yeah, if you're trying to load the stock sounds that came in the box from Akai, then the card or MPC is **** up (most likely just the card). But if you put the sounds on the card yourself, then what Pound said!

Hey thanks for your help guys, I think the problem was that it wasnt 16 bit, as you suggested poundaproblem, it was my fault for not realising. Although it still said "wrong file!!" after I changed it to 16 bit it allowed me to play it and assign it to a pad this time. Thanks again for the help!
