2500 buttons wearing out....

First, appologies if there is already a comprehensive thread about this elsewhere.... I have seacrched the forum, but didn't come up with any conlusive answers....

My MPC25000 is a few years old now and a lot of the more regularly used buttons and becoming lose in their recess and have started to play up.

So far I've had differing advice about repair jobs and wanted some more opinons.... I've been told:

a) I just need a new button 'plate' and that this will be an extremely simple job.

or

b) The 'sensors' are wearing out and that there's a bigger, more difficult job ahead (soldering and so on)...


As the buttons seem to have come lose, my limited insight says to me it should be scenario 'a', but if anyone can add any further comments/advice it would be much appreciated...



Secondly, any recommmendations for spares suppliers based in the UK would be much appreciated also.

You most likely have to replace the individual buttons. Very easy job and you can buy buttons from mpcstuff.com. Check their site for instruction videos.

If the buttons are starting to fail by not triggering then you will probably need new tact switches, which require soldering.

man, last summer my mode button was toast. I took a class in high school that involved soldering so naturally i ordered the tact switches to solder on. BIG MISTAKE. found out the hard way i suck at soldering

Unfortunate, I'm sorry for your experience. I also am inexperienced with the process of soldering, I always ask for help from knowledgeable friends.

Sounds like I'm initially best off trying to replace the buttons. If that's no good then I'll have to speak to a pro... No way I'm chancing the wellbeing of my MPC on my non-existent soldering skills.

When I tried soldering it I must have shorted something out since some of my F buttons started not to work. It was a nightmare. I ended up buying a new whole right pcb board. Kinda expensive but it replaced buttons that were broken when I bought the Mpc initially from some dude so now everythings gravy

where did you buy a pcb board that was compatible with the mpc 2500?
