Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

Dear MPC users,

I picked up a new MPC 2500 four days ago. But something bothers me: Left & right audio channels are out of sync every once in a while for the duration of one sample. In these cases always the left channel seems to be delayed, beginning with the starting point of the sample and ending when the sample is over. Other samples that play simultaneously are not affected. It happens randomly and it seems to affect all samples. Sometimes it happens every few minutes or so, sometimes it doesn´t happen for more than an hour. All kinds of samples are affected - short samples, long samples...

As a software developer I am pretty sure this is a software problem. My question: Did you ever realise this behaviour on your MPC 2500 (or 1000)? Is it fixed by the JJ OS? Of course you would most likely hear this bug on headphones, the sound seems to come from the right side when the bug occurs...

I also had 4 data losses in 4 days  but AFAIK these problems have been adressed by the JJ. I just don´t wanna install JJ OS until I know that I´ll keep the machine.

Please report your findings!

 During a live performance a very long sample might get some unwanted right panning. I can achieve a better audio reliability on my Macbook than on the 2500  Maybe I should return the machine to the dealer. :|

Si-Tone reported that he is hearing the same thing while using JJ OS. However I found this in the XL bugfix list:

2. [TRACK MIXER]

PAN is sometimes changed.

So I´ll give XL a chance. Trying it out will mean long sessions without being able to save since the bug does not occur all the time. I thought someone with an MPC must have recognized this bug or must have never recognized it with the OS they are using. Someone who works a lot with the MPC and who listenes to the output ???

Si-Tone, thank you for reporting. Under which version of JJ OS did you notice this behaviour? XL or or a non-XL version?

I investigated the problem. It´s a delay between the left an the right channel. This is a software bug which happens on one sample while another sample is played back on the same output. This bug never has been adressed by JJ.

I just wanted to say f*ck you. This is the unfriendliest forum ever. Now I learned that almost all MPC users must be numb or just not willing to share their findings.

This is the first time I've seen this post.
I had the same bug as you when I had akaios, then I may have had it with JJOS1, I'm not sure.
I haven't had it for a couple of years now and I've been keeping up to date with the latest JJOSes.
TBH there are so many JJOS revisions that it's hard to comment on which may or may not get rid of the problem. Some people have the bug, some people don't, even though the person with the bug has the same OS and same machine. It's one of those un-reproduceable and rare bugs.
THAT's why no-one commented on a solution.

Only just saw this post again now Im using the free JJOS 3.10- and have had it on 3.08 and 3.09 also. These are the only os I've used properly. I have installed XL and NOT noticed the bug when using it, although i havent bought a password so havent used XL enough to comment for sure that its fixed.

As mentioned above, its hard to reproduce this bug, and happens very rarely to me so doesnt bother me. Every now and then i hear it and I think "I should look into that" but then its gone again for days.

I have read a lot of the posts about JJos on here and I did go to the site. I even want the splash screen! So I am gonna think it over.
