MPC2500 Midi

Hi all, new to this forum and first post..

I have an MPC 2500, using it for beats and also use reason and a bit of garage band, currently trying to get a system together where I can use the MPC for beats and reason/garage band for keyboards synths

I midi'd up the mpc to reason and found when i wanted to record in reason i had to hit play on the mpc then record on reason after play began, if i hit rec on the mpc it would not trigger record in reasonl..

I tried to midi up the mpc to garage band with no luck at all... was going to rewire reason to garage band and control through there in the hope the mpc would trigger record in garage band and then in reason...!

Getting really confused with all this again and am up for any recommendations on a good setup, using the MPC for the main play/stop/rec controls and beats and using another program for synths (preferably reason or garage band, or rewire reason to garage band to use both)

Am using an iMac with edirol UA-25 sound card, any tips or advice would be really appreciated

why would you record in reasons sequencer when you have a monster sequencer right under your nose named the MPC 2500. all you need reason to do is supply your sounds. so trigger the reason sounds with midi from the mpc and record the midi notes in the mpcs sequencer..

so like this lets say you use a NN-XT for a piano, you set the mpc midi track to 1A, then set the NN-XT to channel 1 in Reason.
then say THOR for a synth, select a new track in the mpc and set its midi to 2A, then set THOR to channel 2 in reason.. and so forth..

press record on the MPC and record the notes on the perspective track, you do not need reason to record anything.. think of it as a sound module like a rack.. its just hosting the intruments.. save your reason file though

EDIT: i set reason tempo to match the mpcs so if any sounds have a delay or use the arpeggio it will match with the rest of the beat..

cheers for the reply, hadn't really thought of usin the mpc for sequencing, was mainly lookin at it as a beats instrument and had already began writing tracks in reason b4 i got the mpc, using just a usb keyboard (remote 25SL)

cheers for the info on how to control reason instruments with the mpc, will be givin that a go and recording the sequencing on the mpc, not too sure on how to save it all though

still need to use reason sequencer also to record usin the keyboard though i guess

haven't really saved anything on the mpc yet either, play around for a few hours generally then turn it off. Is there an easy way to save everything if i record heaps on mpc sequencer??

you can save sequences, programs and projects to the internal compact flash drive.

so i got the mpc workin as a midi controller and using it for sequencing with reason, but how the heck do you assign the pads in reason? for example the redrum, how do i assign each sample to each pad on the mpc cause it's all over the place!

my remote 25SL keyboard does a way better job of controlling reason (maybe cause it's made for it!) but with no sequencing need to use reasons sequencer

figured out the saving, piece of cake should of tried before asking!!
