Does the 2500 really have THAT many problems?

Im seriously thinking about getting rid of my 1000 and getting a 2500 but i feel like when i read through the forum all i see is problems with it. Is it worth it?? Ofcourse i would use JJOS on it immediately but other than that is the pad problem i keep reading about inevitable?

There are less pad problems on the 2500 than on the 1000
I've had my 2.5K for 3 years and some change with no problems as of yet.

I owned a 1k and pads 1 and 2 went out a couple of months after buying it, and I hit them so soft with sens set to max...
2k5 suffered an accident 2 weeks ago and all pads gone, just bad luck and drunk people around it, nothing else, it worked fine all the time before.
I did upgrade from 1k to 2k5 and I'm very happy, got the features I need, bigger and better pads and more outputs...
My 4k at the studio is pure silk

Upgrading from mpc 1000 to the 2500 was worth the investment for me.
No problems here.

only real problems i've encountered w/my 2500 since october '06-new

-data wheel dies quick(i got 1-2 years out of it)
-buttons die relatively quick(i got around 3 yrs w/no problems)
volume rotary knob dies/bleeds(2 yrs)
-had to replace right hand side pcb board to fix above problems(only AU$79 which is fairly cheap imo from mpc-stuff)
-crazy paint wear, almost rusting, where hands are rested

out of all those problems, the saving bug was definately the worst.
and besides losing some project folders whilst backing up during jj-os upgrade to fix saving bug(which was my human error)

the 2500 is a BEAST!
& w/jj-os it's a BEAST-ON-CRACK!

had mine about a year, no problem yet other than once or twice my F6 button was faulty

but that's the button to hear the sample you're loading, so maybe that's expected, but it went back to normal

I always audition samples with the pads or play button so the F buttons take less of a hammering.

I think the fail rate on the newer mp's is slightly higher than the classic machines (dodgy pad issues aside) but bad news always travels quicker than good, so don't be too worried about people's woes on here.

The 2500 is a GREAT machine... especially with JJ under the hood.

some of my buttons need a little extra pressing now, but overall it's still my pride and joy.

I was wrong it's the F5 button

the one you press to hear the sample you're gonna LOAD onto a PGM

is there anyway to get around that? because hitting the pads doesn't work

Must be another JJ feature.

By this time next week ill have my 2500 so hopefully i run into no problems! Thanks for the replies.

I've never had a problem with the machine. Has worked perfectly every time. I have JJOS on the 1000 but decided not to put it on the 2500 as I did have some issues with it.

Just got my 2500!!! JJOS installed already and im loving it...

ive had mine since 06 (cant remember exactlly, but i bought it like 3 months after thing came out) still in mint shape. of course, i'm not rough on my gear. I think it depends on how rough you are on your gear. ive met some dudes who bang on there shit (not in a good way) and are slapping buttons, dirty fingers, etc.

I do think the jog wheel is flimsy, mine still good but i c ould see it wearing out. the transport buttons seem to be the same as other mpcs. my pads did act funny a few times, but it was sporadic and hasnt happened again. I'd definately buy another one. hopefully akai doesnt stop making these and jjos keeps doing his thing.

but i think when you see problems on the board, its cause this is the place people go to for support. i dont think it has major issues, i just think mpc owners use there gear......
