Very Strange Sequencing Problem on the 2500

often I like to start hitting pads before the 1st beat starts recording in a sequence, I've just noticed that if I hit any pads between the 3rd and 4rth count in beat of a sequence it will get recorded as the first hit?
is anyone else aware of this problem?

so if you hit the pad on the 3rd or 4th beat of a bar it registers that sound as if you played it on the first beat of the bar, and all the sounds play then at once?

exactly, like during the count in I like to do a lil drum roll to get the feel before the 1st beat of bar 1, none of the roll that comes before the 3rd beat of the count in gets recorded but anything afterwards will just get transplanted right over the kick drum of the first beat in bar 1 like it was layered.

btw this is on os 1.21 of akai

I was thinking is there some kind of setting that allows you to catch a sequence earlier than necessary that I need to turn off or something?

If the 1st run through the loop was done in 'record' mode instead of 'overdub' mode, wouldn't it record over the offending stray notes?
admittedly that wouldn't help if you're adding notes using overdub, but would work for a one off/first run.

just to be crystal clear (presuming you are using time signature 4/4):

when you press record and play there are four ticks. these count down the time before you can record. you are not trying to record samples in this space of time, are you?

yeah it's 4/4 timing, and no I'm not trying to record anything in those 4 ticks space of time, my default tempo is 88 bpm so it's very easy to see whats happening, I'm just doing a snare roll before during the count in before the first beat that's actually suppose to be recording.

That doesn't make sense. Anything that you play before the end of the count in will not be recorded, unless probably you are close enough to the first beat and your quantize puts in on that first note. I guess that's what's happening.

Do you see the extra noes in the grid?

I've never used the grid, let me check this out this evening and report back, also @stilo thats exactly the problem makes no sense to me either, I'm not using any quantizing.

And then check the step edit for the position of the note.
