greetings,
apologies for firing off a question as a first post. I've been lurking for awhile, and finally picked up a 2500 this week (used, but very clean). This place has been a wealth of information when it came to sorting out which MPC was right for me.
Ok, so I'm noticing something that seems a bit weird to me, and thought I'd get some opinions from seasoned veterans. It seems that no matter how hard I hit the pads, I can barely get any volume on whatever sample or sound is assigned to them. It's not totally silent - I can hear the sound, but only faintly. This happens regardless of whether I'm recording a sample and assigning them to pads, or just uploading .wav files such as kicks, snares, etc...
when I preview the sounds using the function key or play a pre-existing sequence that was saved on the hard drive, the volume is just fine. But when I hit the pads, I just can't seem to get any volume.
I tried to adjusting pad sensitivity to the most sensitive setting (which if I understand correctly, is 16). and it seems 127 should be the max velocity - i can't anywhere near that even if i'm bangin on it.
Another interesting thing is that if I have the 'full level' button set, I get a 'bleed' from the other pads when i hit one. for example, If i hit pad 1, i'm getting 1, 2, 3 triggering at the same time.
my gut feeling is a screwed up pad sensor, but any opinions would be hugely appreciated before I dig into the internals. Apologies if this has been covered (I didn't really see previous posts with the exact issues). Oh yeah, current OS is Akai 1.24 (looking into upgrading to JJOS eventually)
Thanks!
