The 1000 and the 2500 are basically the same except for cosmetic features such as tilt screen and smoother pads.

5000 is like the power of 2 1000s though. But no JJOS.

the 5000 is full of bugs and was poorly constructed [screens burning out, etc]. seems like a few people had to exchange theirs a couple times until they got a properly working one... i would browse some threads in the mpc5000 section before dropping that much money on one. also, if you look on ebay, you can find maxed-out mpc2500s for much cheaper than retail...

5k os 2.0> jjos bro. The 5k with os 2.0 is the best mpc.

I dont know, but I think for a band the 4000 actually might be the best simply because it has the most ram.... you can load an entire set onto that at once possibly.

Bullsh!t man. I have 4 5k's. I make alot of music, im a staff producer for a label and i have NEVER had an issue. Im sick and tired of hearing people blame the tool and not the person using it. It HAD bugs on the first realese. screens burning out ? Ok what % of units sold had them burn out? Less than 3% and that was mostly in the first gen. Nothing is perfect. Macs are known to crash over heat due to fan failures RANDOM and rare, just like the 5k screen. yet the mac is still the best computer for music . Just like the 5k is the best gen mpc. DONT NEED jjos ..How good is the 2500 that it needs illegal hacked software to run ALMOST as good as a 5k? Yes the DMCA also says jjos is illegal and so does akai(numark)... 2.0 os is fine in the 5k. Most top studios use either a 4k or 3k the 5k is showing up bit its the new younger producers that are starting to bubble. Trust me, most producers use a 5k and want it. Just not the price. The old pros have 2500s because thats all they know. They have a unique sound and feel due to doing the same thing over and getting the same results. They new breed of producers use 4 and 5ks . The best part is the people talking what they dont know, dont have one. Maxed out 2500? Ahh yes, the home producer fav.. you know why? Cuzz its f-ing cheap!! Thats why.

So we agree its the power of two 1000s :D

You know from what I've been reading, using a JJOS got things the Akai OS don't got and the Akai OS got things the JJOS don't got, so between the two OSs it like a win\lose situation.
