Akai mpc 2500 screen stalling

Hey guys I posted a ? over at mpc 2500 jj os, can anybody help me with my unit? I attempted to update my os with the new jj os but the screen is stuck. i tried everything to get the screeen to move forward. when I power the unit on, it reads MPC 2500 16mb Installed "insert memory card" I even attempted to power off unit and hit the erase function to reset factory settings, but nothing works. Also i tried holding down window when powering the unit on and it reads OS update please insert memory card, i did but nothing happen, can anybody help me Thanks

What do you mean? That the screen is displaying frozen images or you can't tilt the screen?

I pick up a brand new akai mpc 2500 w/cd rom drive with verison 1.00 from the pawnshop for $350, i played with the machine all weekend, then i upgraded the mpc to v1.24 from the akai website, then later that day i upgraded to the free version of jj os. now my mpc is stalling when i turn it back on!!!!! the screen say, "akai mpc 2500 16mb installed" that's it!!!!!! I think I erase the os 1.24 from akaipro.com because now my machine don't work at all!!!! it don't get off that screen, i need help asap!!!!!!! any advice, do i need to buy a new hard drive and install the os from akaipro so it can work again!!!! or throw the damn back to the pawnshop!!!!! it work before with no problems at all, then i **** it up!!!! HEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What made you wanna change the OS anyway?

have you tried removing the ram chip and booting it up without it? it may also be that you bent one of the pins in the compact flash slot and they are making contact and shorting the machine out... either that or you didn't fully install the JJOS when you tried...

I only have 16mb installed and when i installed the jj os, the unit told me to turn it off and when i power my mpc back up, it begin to stall saying, " mpc2500 16mg installed I was thinking about opening the unit up and disconnecting some cables i wish i could upload some images of my unit. to show all you guys, by the way thanks for any and all advice. i WISH I CAN JUST GO BACK TO V1.24 AND I'LL BE HAPPY

SOMEBODY ONCE SAID ON THIS FORUM IS TOO POWER OFF UNIT AND HOLD DOWN WINDOW AND POWER UNIT ON. I DONE THAT AND WHEN I DO IT READS, "MPC2500 OS UPDATE" INSERT MEMORY CARD" I HAVE A MEMORY CARD AND I PLACE V1.24 ON THE CF BUT THE UNIT DOESN'T RECONIZE IT!!! DO I NEED TO USED A SPECIFIC CF CARD?

How can I enable my compact flash card reader in my unit? I can't get it to read. Is it possible to go inside of unit and see if the cable connected? I think I can fix this unit today but need a little advice, it don't reads the CF drive, only the CD-RW drive only...Yes the screen still stall though! but i can hear the unit trying to load the something but not sure. I install 128mb this morning! now it reads MPC2500 (128MB installed) also i bought a original 2GB AKAI CF CARD.

Hey Kannon..... I AM HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM!!!!!! Did you get yours working? It's like my MPC2500 don't recognize the flash card reader. HELP!! Thanks!

Same problem here! I have akai OS on the root of my 2gb flash card. When I turn on machine holding down WINDOW it says "wrong card". THis card has worked fine for years previously.

When I turn on machine without holding window, It just gets stuck on the same screen as above.

Ive taken out Ram, CD Drive and HD but no change.

If anyone has suggestions please please post. Currently completely outta ideas.

I got mine working. Just needed the original card that came with the mpc.
