2500 question PLEASE REPLY

I went to a pawn shop today and offered the employee $450.00 for the 2500 he originally price at $599.00 we plug it in and i notice the jog wheel is not working almost as if it doesn't catch the signal or something but works spazticly? also the f1 and f2 button are kinda smashed in but work...for now

should i buy it or just wait for the next opportunity PLEASE HELPPPP

i currently use the mpc2000 and i would love an upgrade of this proportion

how much would it cost to fix and would it be worth the investment????

if its just the actual jog wheel itself and the two buttons, drop em to 4, buy it and go to mpc stuff.com to get the replacement parts.

any tips on how i could identify that it could only be a hardware problem

if it's just the wheel that acts 'spaztically' then it is certainly a hardware problem. my advice would be to leave the thing alone. taking apart the MPC is a real hassle.

it moves like one or two sequences when i turn it 360 degrees continuously should i purchase the rotary encoder for the jog wheel would that work? it feels loose or something

I wouldn't buy it. What I would do is to save up and buy an used one on eBay from a seller who has 100% feedback.

but the price is sooo tempting man, i dont think i'll be able to save that much to get one on ebay they range of $$$ is to high

if the mpc was $200 and had this dodgy wheel then i would buy it. other than that it's not worth your time, effort, and eventual dissapointment with the outcome.

Agreed. The jog wheel costs $24, tact switches can be had extremely cheap. It might be a good idea to make sure the pushbuttons - the grey plastic parts themselves - are not broken, if they look "kinda smashed in". The repair is not that difficult, anyone who's had some practice with a soldering iron should manage.

my jog wheel hasn't worked in years... i just use the +/- keys instead, they work the same as the wheel...
