MPC + Yamaha Motif

Hi! I've seen a video on you tube in wich Scott Storc is producing a beat using a Yamaha Motif together with a MPC2000. The question is...is there anybody who can tell me how this configuration work? I don't understand if he is using the Motif like sound module and the MPC like sequencer(and in this case, to play back the track does the Motif have to be connected?) or he is using the sounds on MPC and playing them with the Motif?.
I'm an MPC 2500 user and i'm about to buy a Motif XF6 and I would like to know how to interface them.

The Motif is used for its onboard sounds and for midi input to the MPC sequencer.

The Motif remains connected until the beat is tracked out into a DAW.

Same way as any other synth with midi ports, just set the Motif for multi-timbral use (receives on 16 midi channels).

How to set this up will be in the Motif manual, most synths only receive on one channel by default.
