Anybody know where I can buy the original Akai CF Card that came with the mpc 2500?

You can find "Akai" labeled cf cards on thet net/ebay...most would advise that you delete what comes on the stock one any way though.

I know nothing on the card is gonna fix my mpc. I recently brought a mpc 2500 pre-owned that does not get past the update screen, I keep getting a "Wrong Card" message. After trying to update the mpc with two Cf cards so far I searched the forums and found people that had the same problem fixed it by updating their mpc with the Original Akai Cf card.

Yeahhh, there is not a OS file on the card .People who have had my problem fixed it by using the original Cf card so I'm gonna try it out. I really don't know what makes the Original cf card special but if this doesn't work I don't know what I'm going to do.
I tried formatting my card, holding window or erase during boot, removing ram, and hard drive yet still , I get this "Wrong card" message.

that's bizarre,,,you looked in cf card reader to check if any pins are bent or missing ?
By DaftMarC Thu Jul 28, 2011 10:47 pm
Yeah I did check the Cf card reader it's missing one pin. Without a Cf card in the mpc it says "Insert Memory Card" when a Cf card is inserted I get the "Wrong Card" message so I doubt it's the card reader since it recognizes CF cards.

I dunno...if it can't view all the parts of the card, I would think it would be likely that it would think it has the wrong type of card in it. If you can't access a cf card made by any of the major manufacturers the wouldn't the missing pin be it? Do you have another mpc around to try the same card in?

I don't have another mpc around, this is my first mpc . The Cf card I have been using so far is the produced by Mpc stuff.com.

Hmmm...if you live in the states and have a guitar center/ sam ash nearby, you could test the card in one there...

I've had the wrong card message too.

I tried to load JJ in off another CF card when it was still Akai 1.24 & it wouldn't have any of it.
Put it on the original CF, then no problem. From then on the MPC wasn't quite so fussy with its CFs.

There is something different about the original CF & its a good idea to keep it with an OS on just in case the MPC goes tango uniform IMO.

Would like to know what it is that is different about them, if I need to source a replacement.
