2500 Casing

I forget who was looking for this but look like mpcstuff got em back in stock

Better to get part from Akai.. Its actually cheaper. The only thing I bought from MPC stuff was te thick fat pads.

you got the thick pads on your 2500 ? they feel better than stock ? I been eye ballin them for good minute..

Yea i just put the thick fat pads on. Im not sure if i should rock them with or with out the felt pad bottom covers. The thick fat pads make my shit super sensitive. I gotta get used it it so delicate now. Is super duper responsive. Im contemplating taking these felt pad bottom covers off.

Im interested in seeing how the thick fat pads work without those things.. I kinda wish I tested the unit out before adding the felt things under the pads. This way I coulda known how the unit responds without them.

Now if I take them off and find out i really do need them if i try to put them back on they may not stick properly cause i took them off. I might just ride it out and see what happens. I do like the way the fat pads feel. They are a little hard compared to my nice warn pads, so its probably gonna take a hell of along time to get them to feel like the 6 years of use i have gotten out of my older pads.. In any case Im pretty satisfied. Even though they feel harder i think they feel a little better than the stock.. its like nice and beefy!!


If you do get the pads,can you test it without using the felt covers first and see how it responds??

No doubt.. Let me know if and when you do get them. Try them out before you put the felt pads on the bottom. I watched the vid of MPC stuff all the dude says its for added sensitivity. I dont think I really need it. Torn..

I forgot to try mine out in my 2500 without the corx. (I bought them for an MPD 32). But I bet they not really necessary on a standard MPC. The gap with the MPD's is bigger, same on the 1000 with the built in corx. But all the MPC's with standard square pads have the pad sheet situated pretty close to the sensors.

How do you like the upgraded pads for the MPD. Is it a significant difference? Also is it really responsive/? Give me some more input if you can. I was thinkin about getting a set to rock with the computer.

Night and day bro. I had stacks of colored circle stickers on the underside of the of the original pads, but that only offered a slight improvement. The Fat Pads are pretty darn thick, and a little hard on the fingers (although they respond to lighter touches well, so you don't have to bash anymore), but the huge gap between the pads and sensors necessitates a pad sheet that raises up this high. If you have any of the MPD's it's $45 well spent to get the functionality Akai should have delivered in the first place. (deja vu ) On an MPD you should also go into the options screen and set the sensitivity and threshold to their most sensitive.

There's a couple threads here about the Fat Pads (a lot of my gushing about them ), but other users have been similarly impressed.

I want to move into the DAW world but im so slow chopping samples with reason that i dont know if its worth the learning curve.

My biggest thing is that I want to be able to audition my chops on the pads as I am chopping just like on my MPC. I want to know exactly how its sounding as I am cutting stuff up.

I use Recycle for exactly what you describe. The little audio scrubber/cursor tool lets you jump from slice to slice and preview them as you you chop. For that kind of chopping where I'm actually pressing pads to preview, I'm fortunate enough to have Maschine. You should be able to do something similar using Kong in Reason.
