When I try exporting beats, using the record mains out method, It plays back distorted. Any ideas? Could it be an internal problem, feel like ive tried everything. I have an mpc 2500.

You need a second MPC2500 since this is the MPC5000 forum.

What OS are you running on your 2500?

Ram is memory inside your mpc, do you have sticks of ram in there, is it seated properly, you'll have to open up the mpc and look, carefully take out and reseat the ram.

Don't wear socks on carpet when you do this.

ok so ive checked the ram in the back. took it out and clicked it back in. When you record mains out should it sound identical to what you have playing. When i listen to the mains out recording it is sill sounding slightly distorted. In the MASTER section i am using both the EQ and compressor for this track and when i record mains out with both of these off it comes out sounding much more identical to what it sounded like going in... however the track doesnt sound as good without he Master EQ and compression on. Does this help?

You didn't mention all of that in your first post, you weren't very detailed at all.

You figured out your own problem. Your mixer, effects, parameter settings affect your main out, adjust to taste.

Yes...I have the MASTER EQ and MASTER Compressor parameters exactly the way i want them. The beat is sounding tight when i press the play start button... i then go to record it using the MAINS OUT. Once the recording is done i play it back and it sounds distorted, Not like it does when i play the actual project. How can this be right?

Where are you playing it back from?

What gear are you using to record it?

How are you recording it?

Im recording using the Mains Out Input on pad 5 (RECORD) with the THRESHOLD:0 MODE: STEREO and MONITOR:ON. When recording the beat has finished you have the option to RETRY, PLAY or KEEP the new sample. I.e the exported beat. Im simply holding down the PLAY option on f4 to hear back the recording on my mpc. This is where it sounds distorted. Im using a pair of headphones plugged into the front jack input. There are no other sources at play here. Just he MPC.

Ok, I think I understand now. You are playing back a double of your effects. You already recorded everything and when you playback your are playing the recorded effects along with effects that are already set on the machine. Don't do that. Turn off all your effects, now do the playback and it should sound normal, why because the effects were PRINTED (permanent audio) into your recording already. Think about that.
