Random Voume Changes/Doubling

Hey everyone, I have an issue that does not occur too frequently, but it is a concern as I just purchased this MPC2500. Anyhow, what happens is after I have all my sequences done, and I convert a song to a new sequence (sometimes this happens in the original sequences also), during play back, one of the samples, or drums seems to suddenly almost play in a glorified stereo effect. Almost as if a second one was playing on top of it. The funny part is, you would think that when this happened you could go back to that particular measure and beat and hear it again and work on why that is occurring. But it does not happen again. Its just a random occurrence. Most of the times I hear it during my final export and then I have to go back in a resample the entire song sequence again.

Has anyone ever seen this on the 2500, or have any suggestions?

Just the newest Akai OS. I am debating whether or not to exchange the unit before my 30 days is up. What do you think?

If its after converting a song of sequences back into a sequence you may want to check to be sure the original sequences tracks align properly. for instance if the sample is on track 1 in sequence 1 it needs to be on the same track 1 in sequence 2 other wise things get all out of wack and wacky things begin to happen. it can be sample on track 1 sequence 1 and sample on track 8 in sequence 2 then create song and convert to sequence.

Thanks psr. I see what your saying. I usually keep the samples on the same track throughout as I usually copy the original sequence, and then change the sample pattern for a variation or just a change from hook to verse/bridge. Maybe this will give you a bit more insight into things. I had one sequence created and was working on it before I went to work one morning. So I wanted to throw the sequence on a flash drive just to listen to it throughout the day to see what modifications I may want to make. So to do this I just basically went to record, main out (resample) then with the sequence (not song) in the background (4 bar set on loop), I just recorded it and let it play for a random amount of times until I felt it was sufficient and then I pressed stop and through the .wav onto my flash drive. This wound up having a hi hat that did that glorified stereo/doubling effect, but its always just for one note, never more.

What don't make sense is it does not happen every 4 bars like you would expect if a sample overlap actually occurred somewhere. You can listen to the original sequence back from the mpc, and nothing is there, its fine. Sometimes I will even be listening to a sequence in the headphones on loop mode, and it will happen randomly with some random sample. Could be drums, instruments, don't really matter.

I really am debating if this is a defect in the unit or not. The only thing is, if I take it back to the store, I can't see, here, listen to what it does. They will probably think I am nuts. But I have it in a few recordings I guess I can show them.
