Also if it compels you can make a 'faux' solid state drive by getting a £2-4 44-pin IDE to CF adapter and getting a large CF card (16GB+?) which is a good alternative to mechanical spindle drives (which create heat, noise, and eventually die out just like any other computer drive) and may cost you similar if you don't already have the drive. The read/write is generally faster on the flash memory too. You could also accomplish this by getting an actual IDE SSD, though.
