Does the 2500

I was watching a video of a beat maker named chefry and he shows how he tracks out of the 5000 via USB straight into protools . Is this possible with the 2500?

I feel that the work flow needed to incorporate the mpc is sorta a hassle.
I'm using the Xl
And havin to track out 1by1 and then reconstructing it
Is losing precious time.
Maybe I just need to practice more on my software skills?

If you have JJOSXL you can create audio tracks for your sequence by sampling the main outs, export it to your computer via USB and then import it into pro tools.

You probably can so it with the free version of JJ, but I haven't tried it.

this is not possible on any mpc.. when the usb mode is activated the mpc acts as a storage device and every other function is disabled. you can only transfer files, not stream audio..

if he was tracking live into protools it wasnt via usb..

tracking out and then reconstructing the drums always had a great effect on my music. while i was never really able to make them sound like they did in the mpc, i did however make the drums sound even better ie swing/mixing/etc, all done in protools by nudging/lowering volume etc

i only had to watch about 45 seconds of the video to see what he was doing... he even said "tracking out inside the mpc itself"

re-sampling every track individually
saving those samples to his harddrive/cf
transferring them to his pc via usb
importing into pro tools..

since you are on an XL you should incorporate a midi device into your setup. you wouldnt have to spend so much time reconstructing your beat after you bounce it as it would automatically sync up.. now, setting up your midi device would likely be an entirely new mission that would stump you for a while.. but hey these are the options..

Just plug in your midi cords both ways in / out and set the time code and slave it to the mpc. Once it's set up its easy.

Re-sampling the sounds I understand, but what happens when you have tracks of a sequence, ultimately of a song, that start with silence? Does the re-sampling have to start with a sound of does it just start? Also once again how does this process work when you have multiple tracks of a composition in song mode?

it will fill the silence if you go into song mode and solo that track. then "mixdown" the whole song with that recorded.

or you could do little sections if you dont want to wait the whole songs length for each track you have.

This dude is a **** master at renaming shit on the MPC. Anyone else notice that?

When you say fill the silence what exactly do you mean? Fill the silence with what exactly? Super details please, if you don't mind....

Also, are there any videos on youtube that show this method being done?

using mixdown is a bit different than resampling using mainout from the record screen.. in song mode you set a sequence and repeat it once. it will create a take of your sequence which will loop perfectly sinc eit stops recording as soon as the sequence ends. so if there is silence, it will record silence and loop perfectly with every other take you create. you have to solo each sound and mixdown all individually, then construct it once transferred into your daw.. also if you have a sound that has delay/reverb that extends beyond the initial loop, you need to load a 2nd blank sequence in song mode to allow the FX to finish, if its at the same tempo it will still loop up..

Great. In what JJOS version is this feature possible? Also, what JJOS should I get? I WILL NOT be hooking up a XLCD Large LCD Screen to mine btw...so I don't need the JJOS that goes with that screen.....
