Load Mode doesn't work

Hello everybody, I'm a real newbie on the mpc 2500 and I'd like to load some samples from my computer to my mpc. I bought it with JJ Os 3.10
So what I read was: turn on mpc 2500, press mode button then press load pad.... and nothing happens.
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Thank you very much for your help

Or could it be that the pads are dead?... Any way of checking this? Thanks a lot

more likely the MODE button's tact switch is damaged... does MODE light up when you press it?

It lights up indeed..

Do you have an idea of how I can try the pads? I bought this online from someone and I've never used an mpc

try MODE + every other individual pad and see if any react...

I did. This doesn't sound good does it? Maybe I should try to reinstall the OS?.. Thanks for your help

are you just tapping the pads or are you hitting them with some force? try with the FULL LEVEL button on as well... the pad sensitivity can be adjusted manually [but of course you'd need the pads to work to access that menu]... i wonder if the previous owner may have left it with some crappy settings...

One question: when I switch on the mpc, should I get sounds from the pads right away?

no.

not unless samples are set to auto-load... which they usually aren't and i prefer it that way personally.

nope.

MODE must be working fine if it lights up when you press it... its the pads that aren't reacting here.

it's sounding like the ribbon cable connecting the pad sensors may have gotten loose during shipping... that's all i can think of... you may have to open it up and check... or just decide to send it back now... i dunno... did the seller have good feedback & all that?

Seller didn't know anything about it but I got it cheap, thought I'd give it a try.
But all the rest seems to work fine. I'll open it and let you know but I don't get why all the pads shouldn't work at once. How do you start a quick recording with the inloaded sounds?

well, judging by how those UPS guys throw boxes around, it IS possible that the cable connecting the pads could have become loose after someone dropped the box or something. there are youtube videos on how to open up the mpc2500 if you're going to go through with it. i can help you with the stuff that isn't in the manual... learning to assign samples and all that is on you.
