Can you change sequences using an external midi controller i

Hi-

I need to play drums AND change sequences during a show and need the flexibillity with the song form. i know that from the mpc pads you can change sequences freely in next seq moda. can i do it from another controller such as an octapad where i just hit a pad with a drum stick while playing the drums...?
