MPC 2500/ Logic 9/ Pro Tools 8

So folks here is my question.
Is there a way to do this or am i asking too much. I am using the mpc 2500 as my main sequencer, i want to use logic pro 9 as my sound module only and i want to dump midi notes through the Mpc 2500 into pro tools all on the same Imac.
Is this doable? And if so what is the set up or configuration for this, for example what should be the slave, master, how, etc.
If anyone is out there who can answer this asap i would greatly appreciate it. I have so many tracks i have to process and it is using the mpc as my sequencer but all my sounds at this point are coming from Logic.

What you are asking does not make sense, you either seem to have no idea what you want to do, or you are not explaining it well.

I have no idea what "i want to dump midi notes through the Mpc 2500 into pro tools" means.


Does this mean that you want to trigger Logic instruments by sending MIDI note on/off messages from the MPC into Logic on the Mac, then send the audio output from the Logic instrument into Pro Tools on the same Mac?

If so, you might be able to get Logic and Pro Tools to run on the same Mac at the same time, and possibly route audio between them with something like Rewire/Soundflower/Jack, but I am not sure they would be happy doing so.


Another possibility might be to record the output of the Logic instruments, being triggered from the MPC, as audio within Logic, then save/export those audio files from Logic and import them into Pro Tools.



I think you need to try and explain exactly what you are trying to do, and why, a little better.

What is the purpose of doing this, what are you trying to achieve as an end result of this process, etc.

Yes i did start a thread once be for and thank you for your concern on what i wanted to accomplish.....
When i say dump the midi notes into pro tools im simply saying there is a way to make the midi into audio and i want to do that so i can take the sounds coming from logic through the mpc 2500 and make them audio in pro tools for mixing purposes.. If that makes since to you.
If it wasn't clear what i was trying to do sorry for that but i explained it the best way i could as far as my set up and what I was trying to accomplish. Still haven't acccomplished it but thats fine i will find my way around it.. Again Thanks buddy. I will take your two ideas into consideration and work it out from there.

OP this is an overly complicated scheme using two DAW's, but I guess you just want to use Logic as a sound module and Pro Tools for audio. What Simon suggested above is a good way to do this. Using one computer, its probably best to take one step at a time
