Sampling from the cd drive of my 2500 is NOT right?

When I sample from the cd drive, it plays my saple back
Nicely , then when I assign this sample , it seems to speed up
The sample quite a bit or only takes a small bit of the sample and
Really distorted, it can't be the drive , because I can audition
The sample and it sounds great, but when I assign to pad
It kills the sample, are my settings off ?
Anybody know whats going on?
I've only had this machine for a bout a month and everything
Else seems in working order

Are you trying to sample from an audio CD , or trying to import from the CD samples that might not be 16bit/44.1kHz ?

Sampling from an audio cd , from the built in cd drive,
The preview is nice, then somthing goes down when I assign
To pads , it's Yela distorted , lower volume , sped up and smaller
Bits of the sample play, almost unrecognizable.
Could it be something in the settings??
I know the drive seems to work , play back is great , the initial
Sample sound awesome in preview and it all goes to shit
After pad assign .

what about in trim mode?

I hardly ever use cd-rom, i'll try sampling with it today n see what happens.

when you bought your mpc did you perform full reset to make sure autoload or whatever saves didnt carry over any settings from the pervious owner ?

I would suggest doing full reset, I always do when dealing with 2nd hand stuff. For one you want to start with clean slate, two forget previous users projects. Keep samples and programs but who cares about their beats I believe it's erase on power on but I dont remember exactly plus I'm on JJ so things might be little different.

hey if you worried about losing your stuff then you can save it into seperate projects or do full hard disk back up to your computer and then do reset. at the same time you said you've had it for about a month and is still learning machine. which brings me to the point that you can't have anything in there really worth saving no pun intended but you will come up with better stuff as you learn the MPC.

as far as operating instructions for JJ you can get them online from his website and print out or keep it on your comptuer in PDF form

No, I'm not sure i know how to load the track yet,
Just seems like it should be simple , it allows me to sample
And I can even preview it , sounds great in preview,
The assign is where it wrecks the sample, doesn't make sense,
If it sounds good in preview ,it should sound good when assigned.

Have you tried getting the audio from the CD into the MPC via both methods, the Record screen (page 58 in the manual), as well as through the Save/Load screen (page 108 in the manual)?

These are two different methods of creating samples from audio CD tracks, into the MPC memory.

I am just wondering if you have tried both methods, and if it has the same problem with both?
