Noob question about midi recording

How can i record an external synth through MIDI & play that sample without the synth connected to the mpc??

Record the audio output of the synth into the MPC using the analog inputs or the digital in if you have a digital synth that has SPDIF output.

What's the workflow? Are you playing the keyboard's keys or having the MPC's MIDI trigger the synth?

Either way recording as a sample/audio will allow you to turn off the synth/work solely with the MPC.

Depending on how much memory you have installed, you can do a lot of different things. You can create MIDI tracks in the sequencer and use them to trigger an external synth while sampling the audio playback on the MPC. You could then take the resulting sample, chop it into notes, phrases, whatever.

What you really need to do is check the manual and youtube on how to sample the synth sounds you want (Audio data). Then you create a 'kit' of all those sounds and use the MPC's internal sequencer and grid editor to arrange how to playback the sounds you sampled. The sequencer will produce MIDI data.

The key is to start simple.

No, not possible.

To do that, you would have to record in the synth sounds as individual samples, and then play those samples in the MPC sequencer.

Not the same thing as simply playing an external synth from the MPC, and being able to edit the MIDI sequence that is playing it.

To bad that doesnt work.

He won't, you asking for being able to play guitar without strings. Don't make sense neither possible. Stay connected via midi or sample in lets say c major n make instrument patch from it
