Is it just my mpc 2500 or does this happen on all of them?

1. when i put certain wav files in my mpc some of dont seem to be able to play despite them being wav, and when i load those sounds in audacity and export them on to my mpc they start working but that method is very tedious for whole drum kits

2. if i put a sample on my cf card and if the files start with the same name all the sound files will sound the same despite being different until i change the name.

for example:

drum1
drum2
drum3
drum4

these 4 drums will play as "drum 1" despite different styles until i do something like:

1drum
2drum
3drum
4drum

or any different character value in front of it


Is this normal or is it a problem with my mpc, the cf card or free jjos im using?

and what program to do you guys use on this forum to convert sounds to work for your 2500's? there has to be an easier way than audacity

honestly i dont know what most of them are but I do know when I convert them to the default 16 bit PCM or something another in audacity then they start working

Yeah, it'll be that. There are a lot of 24bit samples knocking around these days so you will have to convert to use them on the 2500.

thanks for the heads up, personally what do you use to do that in a not so tedious way or is my method pretty much the only method and do you anything about the other stuff i asked about?

I personally use foobar just because it's my preferred audio player but there are many other apps available, for example dbpoweramp or XLD if you're on a Mac

With foobar, just drag and drop the files you want to convert, right click -> convert and choose 16bit WAV as the output. Super quick and easy

There's a character limit that the machine can read and unfortunately the 2500 handles this in a pretty shitty way; by playing those sounds that go over the limit as the same sound.

The 4K is a bit more dynamic in that it will rename files so they can be read as individual sounds.
