Sounds like it could be a bad ground issue. What turntable is it?

I had meant to ask, if you checked the gains on the mixer first, and that the ground was securely attached to the mixer.

I just looked it up, and apparently doesn't have a ground? So maybe it's internally grounded already (technically grounds through the RCA). If it is, it could even be the RCA cable is bad, like a short somewhere in the wire, which can also be common.

It could also be the cartridge. Do you have a spair one you can try and plug it? Or is it fixed to the unit?

Try switching between the Phono and Line Out.

Maybe also see if there are any power cords over lapping any of the cords.

These things are built with really low-quality components :( that could be why it's happened. One of the guys in the neighborhood had one of these, it was always one thing or another happening.

I wish I could be more helpful with this.

thanks for the useful input...i took the needle off and swabbed the inside of the arm with some alcohol and plugged the record player into a different outlet...seems to have done away with the loud buzzing that was going on...now i hear a shhhhhhhh sound. which i think is supposed to be there? either way gonna have to invest in some new turntables.

Ive got the same TT and also had some isses with tonearm creating buzz sound as if it wasnt grounded...if i remember correctly combination of punching the shit outta the record platter, removing the stylus and bending the tonearm upwards solved it for me :-D
