Just received a stock MPC 2500

Hello,
I tried to learn the MPC 1000 back in 2007 but had to sell it for personal reasons. Now 8 years later I've jumped back in the game. I found a MPC 2500 in mint condition with all factory hardware and software. In lurking through the forum it seems I should strongly consider maxing out the RAM, installing a 60-80 GB hard drive and install the free JJOS? Do you guys recommend anything else?

Since I just dropped some coin on the unit itself, I don't want to drop another $123 immediately. Would you guys recommend installing the free JJOS in the meantime and learn with that until I'm ready to spend the cash for the JJOS XL upgrade, or just use the stock Akai OS until I can do it.
