same sample different volume levels between sequences?

I am on an MPC 2500 with the Akai OS 1.23. I have 2 sequences where I have the kick on a track in solo. when I switch from sequence to sequence I am perceiving the kick to be louder in one sequence than the other. The kick from each sequence is the same from the same program. Could this be possible? I can't figure out what it could be.

The pattern on one track in sequence 1 is a 2 bar pattern with a 4/4 kick.

The other pattern in sequence 2 is a 4 bar pattern with a kick hitting on 16ths for a bit but mostly 4/4

Anybody ever experience differences in volume between sequences with the same sample?

Am I just going crazy from being in the headphones too long?

Perhaps the midi note velocity, or length is different between sequences.

Or you are loosing your mind. Wait a minute, "loosing" is a past tense. heheh
