Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

Hi folks,

I just got an MPC 2500 a few days ago. So far Ive been able to deal with it. I also own an Octatrack so Im used to gear that leaves you like this every now and then: :hmmm:

But now I got a question:
Ive set up the Q-links to control the Low-Pass Filter Cutoff of my Closed Hihat, Open Hihat, Ride and Clap.
Then I just found out that you can record your stuff to different tracks. So I made one track for each instrument (Track1 = Open Hihat, Track 2 = Closed Hihat....)

The Problem now is: I e.g. only can control the Cutoff of the ride, when Im on the ride track. The other Q-links, which are applied to other samples dont do anything. Every Q-link only works when Im in the track of the specific sample that the Q-link is controlling.

Why on earth is this?? I cant think of any possible reason why this would make sense. Can I switch that of somehow?
Id like to have every sample in its own track, but still be able to tweak all of the them simultaneously.

Please help a poor MPC noob :(

What OS you got on it?

I don't remember Akai OS but what you need is availabe on jjos1, jjos2 and early versions of jjos2xl. Since You can't buy OS1 ans OS2 separately for 2500... you would have to buy os2xl for 2500, and than ask somebody here to send you OS files.

This is not ONLY opition.. first tell which OS you got.

a) group those pads to one track (do you need separation that bad?)
b) copy exact same filter automation to other tracks (time consuming)
c) get the OS with this feature (upper post)

thanks for your help man, apprecciate it!
a) the main reason why I want seperation is, that I can then mute single drums on the fly via the "track mute" button, which afaik isnt possible otherwise. but please tell me if Im wrong here
b) I thought the q-link settings are the same for every track? I thought they depend on the program, not individual tracks. but again I might be mistakin
c) maybe in the future, dont wanna spend any more money before I know for sure that Im not gonna sell this thing again
