Hi,

i need to replace my Volume Rotary Potentiometer because it´s acting weired.

Is it normal that it has a middle detent? Or could it be that the preowner put in a different one which is normally used for tone control or left right?

If i turn it all the way to the right it´s very loud like it should be. turning it to the left decreases Volume on both channels in my headphones. After the middle detent turning it further to the left to minimum decreases the volume on the right channel down to nothing and the left channel stays at the same volume like in the middle position. That´s strange.

As the Q-Link Knobs have the same Akai Part number i wanted to take them in my mpc as a reference. But they have no middle detent. But it would make sense as they can be tuned for example to -120 0 and +120.

It would be nice if anybody can check this on his MPC 2500 and tell me if the Main Volume Knob has a middle detent or not and if the Q-link knobs have a middle detent or not.

It must be from ALPS RK14K Series so
If anybody knows the correct ALPS part number would be appreciated.

I measured the vertical type with bushing :

Shaft lenght 20mm and lb 7 mm but that doesn´t fit to the shaft variation combinations available.

Can anybody helb me out here.
