Midi Notes from JU-06 not recording in order

Hi all, have the Roland JU-06 Midi out going into input 1 of the MPC 2500. For some reason when I play the notes they are received in some sort of crazy jumbled order, switching between notes, and banks. For example if I play sequential keys on the keyboard, it will just bounce all over the place like this video. Any ideas? i've been pulling my hair out for days on this because I have had this work perfectly before with the same settings.

I'm convinced it might be the JU-06 sending this garbage, maybe not. I tried a full reset of both the MPC and the JU-06 with no luck. thanks!
