this thing is pretty and powerful (and expensive) but seems to replace the 2000 and 2000xl more than the 1k...same thing as 2000xl plus a couple nice additions (hd is **** BADASS) but if you are comfortable using your 1k with a computer as many of us have been doing, it is not worth picking up...

i see this as a fantastic thing for the 1k, actually - if anything it will take away the whining for timestretching and zoning because all those who are trying to use the 1k as a standalone sampler will sell their 1ks and buy 2500s.

here's a question - you think the hard drives in the 2500s will ever make their way to the 1000s? i wonder what their insides look like and if a hd is on the way to the 1k as well - particularly a smaller one, like a 20 gig or something...that'll be sick...

I've been wondering the same thing about the hard drives for both units as well as the CD burner for the 2500... but it's only a matter of time before we know whats up. Anyhow, I'm definitely gonna wait another year before I consider buying the 2500 and read up on the forums when people buy these units till then.

its hard to tell from the pic. anyone know if the pads are the '1000 size or original '2000 size?

wonder if you can use the mpc2500 OS in the mpc1000 if the processors are the same?

processors might be the same but peripheral chips could differ, infact processors might not be identical just same family

does suggest hdd entirely possible for the 1k and timestretch yadda yadda but seems a daft move financially on akai's part as these features set the 2k5 apart from the 1k

so i wonder if the mpc500 rumours are true also? bet you it's battery powered with 3x3 not 4x4 pads

the guy at akai i spoke with regarding the 2.5k reassured me that the 1k will not be getting timestretch/zoning features. said theres just not enough power.

well really all we need if timestretch/zoning features aint an option is an HD intsallation option.

um, i wouldn't count on that either. where the hell u gonna put a hard drive in the 1k?

Try opening it up and looking where the card read is, you'll see a nice big slot waiting for a hardrive to be installed in it. has the jumber and everything.

I just want an est. price. Anyone have any guesses?

i like my 1k better
