I'd be willing to pay about £1000. Which is just over $2k.

Remember, the MPC 1000 retailed for $1500.

What??? Where were you shopping? Beverly Hills? MPC 1000s were sold for under $1000..even when initially released. Any price higher than that, the seller was trying to rip you off.

IMO, by next spring the 2500 will have the price of the 2000 MCD now (which is around $1500 right?)

Business 101:
They will not be widely available until the end of the year. I seriously doubt that they would drop significantly is less than 1 quarter. That's not a good business plan if if they were not selling.

Remeber it's a replacement of the MPC2000XL with extra I/Os as standard.
I'd say: Let's wait 1/2 year and pick up a brand new for 1399€ or a second hand "expanded" (128MB&CDRW&2GB-CF) for 1100€...

They will probably intorduce it here in EU for something like 1750€...

If 1399€ is close to $2000 US, you can get it in weeks..not having to wait 6 months :)

If it worked well on the initial release I would pay $1599. (reluctantly)

I would pay that as well..but not a likely US price..at least anytime soon. With your price quote...that would make the 2000XL cost about $1000 and drive the MPC 1000 down to less than $700. I say that because if you strip the value of the standard 8 outs, internal CD drive, multi-card drive, FX board...that would put the 2500 down into the $1100-1000 range..even stripped down, it is worth more than $1100.

I feel what ur saying, but if the MV goes for $2000, and the MPC2500 goes for $2000... The MV is obviously gonna be more bang for my buck. I know this is an MPC forum, and the 2500 looks to be one beast of a machine, but for $2000 without the CD drive and HD, Akai would be trippin.

I'm just saying, if Akai isnt gonna have competetive prices with thier competitive machines, then whats the point of buying thier products?

Honestly....I really do feel you all. I guess you will just have to continue using the MPC of your choice or an MV.

If the MV gives you 'more bang for the buck' go for it.

Just know that there is another option...one that I am excited about that has many of the features of the latest MPCs and including the MV 8000.

So just keep what you are doing. This will have no effect on that. I can't wait to exchange tips with a few other catz that lay their hands on this new beast! Its a public forum so you are all welcome back to come in and add your input :D

Hey, you've got some good rates. Do you want to exchange 1400€ for 2000$ please? Or make that 9000€ against that same rate, than I'd have my MPC2500 for free

I believe he said IF 1200Euros is close to 2000 dollars you could have it now. Unlike those in Europe, we don't need to know the conversion rates because we don't import stuff from Europe, like you guys import from us.

What would I import from the US? We've got everything we need here! And it sounds, looks and feels better. Most of my gear is build in the EU (Clavia, Elektron, TC Electronic, B&W) or in Japan (Yamaha, Korg & Sony). The only American gear I've got in my studio is an Emu sampler (but that's not really American anymore is it?).

I really cannot think of one single thing I'd want to import from the US.

Studio Electronics have some monster Synths...hand built to order. Moog also has some great synths...

Most of my gear was made in Japan/China..only the software I use is from Europe.

Back to the 2500...

I can think of something Europe likes to import from the U.S..............

our culture. 8)

Us Americans are Badasses you know it, I know it, the whole world knows it!

SINGING:

"America, F**K yeah!, were here to save the motherf**kin' day."

Some great music products are american made. Gibson, fender, paul reed smith, parker ( I know these are all guitars but what can I say we are badasses and badasses play guitar.)
