in one of the videos where its the mpc2500's features are demonstrated in JAPAN a vocal track is layed as 1 long take. Can anyone answer how many tracks can you lay like this?

I guess this means its a multitrack recorder as well as a drum sequencer/sampler? is this right?

Yes it is a dtr but I think that has to do with ram memory installed also.

Check the downloadable manual for one of tracks. I think it may be one, not sure.

In the manual it says that it definately has to do with how much ram you have in it.

It also says that you can't change tracks or sequence though. That shit sucks, that was one of the main reasons i was gonna get it.

what do you mean when you say change tracks?

I might be able to check this if you can give more details. Is the video the Sample Kings video? What page in the manual are we talking about? Page 118 refers to loading an Audio track from CD. None of us can check that feature because we don't have the CD drive yet.

The 2500 has a input rec so one can record in a live playing instrument as the sequence plays onto one audio track. If you have a singer or a bassist or whatever you can record live on the single I believe audio track. The recording from internal outputs like a CD player on the 4k is different. Yes the 2500 is an mtr but like I said before you cannot change the single phrase into part phrase through cuz it goes up to only 64 phrases the same as the number of pads with the banks. Remember the unit was build to the specifications and needs of the live performance duo Hifana for Live Performance. So if you wanted to do live remixing and reediting of accapellas, vocalists, rappers, or play a live instrument into the sequence you can do it.

The other mpcs need a workaround but the concept of usage was more for the studio as oppose to the stage. DJs make the world go round.

Check with Jahrome I believe it records one track at a time. However you might be able to record more audio tracks according to your ram memory that is. You`re welcome. 8)

If you got a decent MTR or DAW its all moot for doing re-edits and live vocals. Have fun though.

Thanx 1k. Yeah you can make a entire song on 1 sequence if you please. But this also helps for future editing. I'm still learning but this is the best mpc in my book. The OS's that will eventually follow will make this even more superior in the future so there is no immediate reason to gripe about anything since we all should know that the first shipment will have issues but AKAI loves to improve on the products although it takes a while sometimes to get them.
If you can afford it get it. :D
