MPC 2500: 1 month anniversary

Today marks the 1 month anniversary of the Akai MPC 2500, which is currently running OS version 1.00.

How many users here actally own/use the MPC 2500? Have you found any bugs with the current OS?

Maybe the question would be better if asked 1 month from being released to the US as well since most people don't see it as a must have and are willing to wait for it's arrival.
Takes a brave man to buy something like that sight unseen.
Once it populates the US (tho sites are listing it as ready to ship) the user base will start to form and any true issues with the unit should start to manifest if there any.

Interesting would be how many have snuck their way into the US so far.

I don't know but I brought 5 into the US. I do know others have picked their MPCs up from various sources.

However, since most people don't live near a Guitar Center or other music stores, they will most likely buy in blindly anyway....but this forum is here to give folks an idea of what they will get from an MPC 2500.

i own it. i love it. it has some bugs. some things could be better and new features added.

I'm happy with the 1K and even more happier with the news of the features coming in the new OS, but I'm still gonna make a trip to Sam Ash and try out the 2500 for the hell of it.

I just wish some of the people who hate the 4000 so badly would get a 2500 and fall in love so I can get a better deal on the 4000.


I hear that 2500's make great stocking stuffers for christmas so it people put their request in with Santa, they should come down the chimney on the 25th.

You might see that happen in the next month. Keep watching, especially with the news about only one more OS update for the 4000. It's shocking to have seen the 4000LE models selling for under $1,300 a couple years ago. Try to find one now at that price.

As for the stocking stuffers, well, the 2500 will make for great conversation at Thanksgiving. Sample those turkey sounds now! Looks like there are only 4 of us so far with a 2500.

zs941, I noticed something strange in the Step Editor tonight. As I was working in that mode the Duration of the event I was working on changed weirdly a couple times. Once it lowered the value by 1 and another time it copied the value from the Velocity field. After I re-entered the Duration value it remained unchanged. I wouldn't worry about this too one much. However, I found a different bug in the Step Editor that I am able to reproduce.

If the MPC 1000 will get all those features, I am getting one for my son for sure! Sounds like a good reward for good grades or a Christmas present.

My CD drive for the MPC 2500 ships tomorrow The thing that sucks is that it doesn't actually burn CDs And since I had to fork over $200 for this drive, it would be a pain to have to for over another $200 for a CDRW burner if Akai decides to put that in a future update. I didn't purchase the MPC 2500 for this reason though..but if that intend to add this function in the future, I would be really disappointed with being stuck with this CD drive.

Jahrome, isn't that drive a CDRW? If so, then you'll be all set once the OS update allows it to burn CDs.

i wish i could say that i'm part of this merry 2500 club but i've been waiting on the damn thing to ship since oct 1st.

October 1st! What happened, tse83?!! You must be frustrated as hell by now. Is there any way to cancel your order and get your money back? If you pre-ordered and paid by credit card, then dispute the charge immediately and buy the 2500 somewhere else.

Akai never said anything about a CDRW drive is correct. I was just hoping for one. The CD-M25 is available from the same sources that every here got their MPC 2500s from
