Wow Just got a amazing Price on a 2500

Alto Music in NY just sold me a 2500 for 1598.

Now thats more like it.

I guess I'm back to betatesting for Akai

Should have it tomorrow.

How did this happen? If they are selling the 2500 for that low and still making a profit, the markup on these units must be incredible.

personally i always assumed the markup was at least like 30%.

I don't really know about music gear markups, but with other types of product the markup is typically quite big.

Welcome to the fam Damn good price. That would make it under $2000 when you add all the options!

I don't trust Alto Music. Got a MPC4000 from them that looked like it was used. But since the MPC2500 is brand new, you might be lucky.

Alto Music seems legit but I have never done business with them. but I am shocked that the price is below $1600. The lowest price any authorized dealer can advertise selling it for (from what I have been told) is $1999. Usually, many places will come down $50-$200 from the advertised price. But $400 That is a helluva deal especially since they are going for that much in the motherland.

I just spoke to someone at alto and they did confirm the price of 1589. They do not have anymore in stock but I'm on the list when they do get another shipment. YEAH!!!!

When aprim posted the price he received, I called Alto as well. They confirmed the price and told me that they had one more left. I wonder what happened to that last 2500

I dont know... it sucks that I just got off of work and read this so late. I didnt even think I would get an answer but some guy dedicated to his job stayed a couple of hours extra and was there to answer my question. You should have ordered it from them and sold it to me though. I would have payed 1800.

I did buy the last unit. I called around everywhere and no one else has them in stock. At $1600 I couldn't pass it up especially since it was a headache to get them from Japan while living here in the US.

I already promised it to someone else. But I do hope that it is a new unit. I know that some demo units were shipped to the US.

DAMN Let me know if it is a new unit though. Like I said, I'm on the list for the next shipment. At that price I can wait I guess. But I'm getting so frustrated myself. I was going to buy from sweetwater but they are assholes. My sales rep really didnt seem to want to sell anything. I usually buy from Musicians friend but they wont have one in until the end of november. Let me know whats up though.

Do not buy from Sweetwater. They are a screwed up vendor! Either wait for the lower price or pre-order from Nova Music for $1,850.

I checked with Nova. They have them in stock for 1999.

I tried to buy a Kurzweil 2661 from Sweetwater and the tech was an azz. He even insulted saying that I can't afford the keyboard because I asked him whats the best price I get for one. Idiot..he lost a sale because I had my heart set on one and would have paid the $2300 price.

I will keep you posted when I get mine in 2 days. aprim should have his shortly so I guess we will here more sooner.
