mpc2500 or 2000xl Help me please!!!

My local DV bless them have enabled me to have sitting next to me a brand new 2000xl and a 2500 btw i paid £795!! for the mpc2500.
Anyway the decision is proving a lot harder than i thought it would be it seems there is stil no ultimate mpc. I have owned an original 2000/3000 and 60mk2.

So here is one of my first probs with the mpc2500, when I load samples from my many years of sampling into the 2500 the samples seem to be cut short i.e the ambience is cut off the end not enough sample bits. Now this is highly anoying a means that my 3k and 2k libriary will be useless!!!!
Has anyone else experienced this??
If this problem happened in previous mpc you could use copy sample to temp and paste to end of the sample then use silence to lenghen a drum hit.
It seems this function has been ommited from the mpc2500.
I have only had the 2500 a day so not sure what else will arise, I will aslo add that the 2kxl sounds better to my ears for want of a better term more in your face more analogue!! I have been using headphones so it could just be the different headphone amps!

On the plus side the Mpc2500 seems better built than it appears in the pics, it reminds me of my 3kle a bit, theres also the more upto date improvements like usb, chopshop,hard drive e.t.c.

I would go to the sample trim menu to make sure that the sample start and end points are correct.

As far as ultimate MPCs? The MPC 4000 and 2500 are the ulitmate MPCs (in terms of features) hate em or love em.

I have also noticed that 'amp' used for the headphone outs are not as loud as I am use to. You will have to save your money to buy a mixer and monitors so you can really hear the 2500. Your sale of the MV-8000 you mentioned in another thread should net you enough money for an 8 track Behringer mixer and monitors so you will be set

Het Jahrome thanks for the reply!! as far as the mixer goes I have a fare little setup here including a mackie board. I should list my stuff I guess.
Have you tried turning up the output gain in the other global menu it worked for me..it defults at -12db!

I guess the one thing about music creation is that its highly subjective,when I say ultimate I miss that on a 3k you can change the kick drum to another one very easily, and many others its the little things i guess.

And that data wheel sound is very crap!!!

I agree. The data wheel sucks but it is useable.

The first thing I did was adjust the global settings prior to using the MPC. But the headphone outs are still not that loud but I use my MPC connected to an external mixer.

You can easily change sounds on pads with the MPC 2500.
