I wonder - would it be possible to use a third party drive?
Is it a standart pc connection?
Could something like this work?
SAMSUNG DVD-CDR-LW 16/48/IDE/int./DVD-RAM /512KB Buffer/110mS

What is the data of the AKAI drive?
After all it is very empensive - and other brands cost next to nothing...
thanks

The Akai CD-M25 is a DVD Rom/ CDRW drive. Its a 2.5" Slim drive, the kind that are used in lap top PCs.

I tried a similar drive that was made by Hitachi. It caused the MPC to freeze up. I also tried the Korg CDRW drive that comes with the Triton Studio. This didn't work as well.

I gave up trying to find a 3rd party drive and just purchased the $200 Akai drive. I have heard the same reports when Triton Studio owners tried finding cheaper drives for it. None of the 3rd party drives would function correctly.
