LCD.......

Will we be able to replace the green LCD With a white one later?


I know im a newB on this Forum, but I think this is where this post go.

I actuallly like the 2500s green tint LCD vs the white LCD of the XL. The contrast and definition is better as well as the LCD being bigger horizontally and vertically. The LCDs of the 2000/2000XL has been a pain to many for years with pixels burning out with extended use. Only time will tell if 2500 users will have the same issues.

As far as replacing the 2500s LCD with a white one, you will not be able to just replace it with the screen for the XL. The XLs white screen is a small piece of foil where the 2500s LCD is suppose to be made up of liquid crystal (at least that is what Akai Japan states). I am not the adventurous one to open up my 2500s LCD to see what it is made up of though......

Thats cool. I do not own any MPC yet, but am very familiar with the 3000 used at Grooveland Studios in Clearwater,FL(PLUG....LOL). I have a 2500 on order from AMS. I just sold my MV-8000 as it had a very unpleasent green screen to look at, as well as the machine itself not being what the 3000 is.

Anyhow, thanks for the informative INFO. I have been reading these forums for about 2 months now to get a real view of this machine, and you Jahrome have been most helpful.

for what it's worth the green screen on the 2500 is a lot better than the green of the mv. i hated the mv's screen (but i would like it if akai had a vga option for the 2500...)

Thanks for the heads up homie. I really, really hated the green screen on the MV and was hoping.....no, PRAYING for the 2500 not to be as unappealing as the MV.

2500 screens are LED backlit, not lcd, eliminating the need for an inverter. No inverter, no buzzing screen. 2kxl and older mp's use EL foil backlighting.

If you want a gorgeous bright white screen, get the MPC4000!

The MPC 2500s LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is perfect for this MPC. I wouldn't buy an MPC 4000 for its 'gorgeous bright white screen' I would get another MPC 4000 if it had dual operating systems (the MPC 4000 OS and another OS more like the classic MPCs).

I actually am still like stuck in the early ninety's. I sequence through my fantom X6(which i am in love with), and already have a good understanding of the 3000. I pretty much know i am not going to like/need the 4000, but was willing to give the 2500 a try since i do not trust the ebay market(for my own personal reasons), and would much rather own new equipment rather than someone's old toy.

Like i said before, I previously owned an MV-8000 and was really not impressed with the screen or the interface. Im quirky like that. Remember, I own a color screen Fantom.

I had been producing Rap/R&B for years with just an Ensoniq KT 76 and a Mo phatt sound module until the original Fantom came out a couple of years ago. I have not owned my own MPC because I was only producing for my own group and only went to the studio to lay down the lyrics. But, with the emergence of my new artists sensation, I have had to be in the studio more and don't always have access to the engineers 3000. Thus I have come to the conclusion that I want...no need my very own. So I asked about the 2500 because I had hoped the screen was not like the 8000.

I also owned the MPC 2000xl before I got the MV, but I gave up on it too quickly because of the small amount of ram that came stock.......and it wasn't the 3000. Jahrome has spoke very highly of the 2500, so I think Iwill give it a try.[/quote]

re Phace SBR, i think the 2500 would be a good bet for you and i don't think you'll hate the screen. i have a fantomx8 with the nice color screen and i like my mpc a lot. it's a great tool for the studio and i really prefer it to the fantomx for sampling and sequencing. if you can find one in a shop local to you go down and check out the screen and the feel and see if you like it. you may also be able to find somebody or someplace that will sell you one and let you return it if you don't like it.

Yeah, I think I am going to get one in a few days, hopefully. I really dont like to return items unless i REALLY HATE it. So I probably wont be returning it.

I went to Sam Ash in tampa FL, but they only had one they wanted to sell and not display(DEMO).

I have really done some pretty extensive research on this piece, 3000, and the 4000. And, since I already have equipment that uses CF, I think this is the one that will most fit in with my system, although reading Jahromes thread about MIDI C/D was disappointing.

yeah, the midi C/D thing bums me out as well because i will need that functionality soon but at least it's a software problem that should be fixed soon.
