and i love it. :D

It won´t replace my Apple G5 powermac and Logic Pro - but i plan on using it live instead of a laptop.

The mpc-2500 definatly rocks! Its easy to use - and completly different than using software.
I love this piece of hardware - so easy and straightforward... and goodlooking ;-)
The usb conectivity islo is great...now i gota shop for a harddrive...

like you said, don't get rid of logic and the mac, instead, use the mpc in conjunction to logic. now you can track everything from the mpc into logic and finalize you song in logic. i see the mpc as an addition, not a replacement.

sparq just outlined my workflow :-P i use the mpc to bang out most of my ideas. later i either play it back into logic pro and track it out or re-record somethings directly. then i can chop all my samples and midi and put it back on the mpc for live playback with track mutes really being the key for me. the mpc is really the hub of my studio right now because i do just about everything in hardware and it lets me realize things quickly and intuitively.
