I just got an MPC 2500 after owning a 1k for a brief period a while back. I think that the MPC series stimulates creativity more than any other app or piece of hardware. If you are sample minded you will go to bed dreaming of things to sample and how to sequence them. For lack of thousands of dollars I have been using software to sample and sequnce my Access Virus. I used to use Pro Tools and then I got Reason but was never impressed with the filters and amps of the sound/synth engines. Then I got my Virus and I have been hooked on the beauty of a hardware studio ever since.
After trying Ableton Live I fell in love with sampling. For the last year I have been sampling and tweaking everything I can think of. I still love Live but not for sequencing . Its great for sampling and fitting loops to tempo and looping. The soft instruments lack in sound quality. They all do. It's all about D/A conversion, baby.
My point is that I have my studio set up so that everything does a job and it does it well. And when it comes to making a sample based tune the MPC is second to none and allways will be. Just listen to Prefuse 73 and hopefully me one day. Hail the MPC 2500. No excuses, no complaints, sky's the limit, ,make music, change the world.
