Some questions about the 2500...

I'm doing my research about the 2500 since I know it would probably suit me better than my 2000xl does. But I have some questions about it.

* I've read about the chopshop converting stereosamples and only chopping one channel. But is there still regular zoning like there is on 2kxl? In other words I can still chop stereosamples right?

* I think I've read that the mpc1000 doesnt have autochromatic, but the 2500 does right?

* How does it work when you record/sample when you are playing a beat, does it work like with the 2kxl only you can play a beat at the same time? Or does the file you get when you sample get with the beat someway? If you get what I mean...

* And last, I know it's been discussed but I would like to have an more concrete opinion from you 2500owners, the sound... Is it in anyway different from the 2kxl? Because I love the sound I get out of it, and still want that sound more or less. If there is a difference it's not big right?

ALL your questions have already been answered in this forum.

1. When you chop a stereo sample, it appears to convert the chopped samples to MONO. But unlike the previous MPCs, these MONO samples can be routed to Stereo Pair of individual outputs. Older MPCs...MONO samples can be routed to a single individual output. The zoning feature of the XL is called chopping on the 2500..you have automatic and manual options.

2. The 2500 does not have 'autochromatic' assignment of samples.

3. Sampling is incorporated throughout this MPC. You can sample directly from the main sequence menu. You can play a sequence and sample at the same time....recording internal samples as well as a sound source connected to the input thru.

4. What you sample into the MPC 2500...will come out pretty much the same. I have no complaints at all in this department.

I've been a regular visitor to this forum and all my questions had not been answered despite that, until now. Actually I have some follow up questions to your answers

1. Forgive me if im asking stupid questions about this, but im very tired... So when I chop I have to chop left and right exactly the same and link them together to get stereo samples...?

2. Is there any other way to spread a sample across my keyboard? I remind reading some prepitched program that mpc1000 owners use, is this what you use with 2500?

The questions that you posted in this thread have been answered already...I know because I am one among several others that have answered them in other threads. But its cool though

1. Tthe 2500 doesn't have a convert mono samples to stereo. There is no way to tell the MPC to chop just the L or R channel of a sample. I guess you can sample just the L channel of a sample..and them sample just the right...edit them..and assign them both to the same pad.

2. I don't know of any such program...but most experienced MPC users, use a dedicated hardware sampler for such a purpose. They are more suited for this than an MPC (outside of the 4000).

I might as well chip in a question here instead of making a new topic.

Is this portable, like many users claim the 1k is?

Because from specs it seems to me that it's only 4 inches wider and 4 inches deeper than a 1k, so it's hardly seems much bigger on paper.

Having not had both to hand i can't say so this is a genuine question. Could you take the 2500 on road just as easily as the 1000, save for a few extra inches?

It seems to me that the only point i'm still debating is this portability issue, as i'd like to take it places easily.

The 2500 is almost 2x as heavy. Its portable but not as portable as an MPC 1000.
