Ok, I think i have been misled. Does the optional cd drive actually have the capability of burning a song that you have made, or even burn anything at all? if not, then whats the point of it other than being able to load samples from a cd or dvd?

The drive is a CDR burner and DVD Rom drive. As of the current OS, it doesn't burn CDs yet. This feature is suppose to come in the future with an OS update.

For now, you can load files from commercial CD Roms or sampling from audio CDs.

So, just so i'm clear on this - you can sample off of sample cd's(for instance, specially made AKAI sample cd's), and you can sample a normal audio cd, let's say any cd purchased at a music store? Also, about the dvd rom, can movies be sampled from directly from the 2500, or is it specifically for dvd sample libraries?

You can load wav files from commercial CD Roms. Akai format CD Roms are not supported yet.

You can also sample from commercial audio CDs. You also have the option of loading complete songs from these CDs.

You cannot use commerical DVDs in the 2500 but you can load sample files on DVD Roms.
