Mute Grouping on Samples with Effects

I applied a delay effect to a sample in a mute group but the delay doesn't honor the mute and causes the sounds to jumble over eachother. Any tips?

FYI... this is on the MPC 2500 hence where I placed this post.

in the program screen under params at the top right change Play: to mono if its set on poly

or in the effect settings for ur delay change that to mono instead of pan

So it works yes... however when I hit the pad to mute the original pad with the delay effect it does cut off the main sound but you can still hear the trail of the delay just at a lower level. Am I asking for too much?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding ur question fully

Basically the mute groups work as you stated. The only thing is.. when I hit the second pad and mute the first pad with the effect, you can still hear trails of the effect from the first pad.

I think u might just need to adjust ur delay settings until its to ur liking

or maybe take the delay setting off of the pad that u dont want to leak over or maybe play that pad at decreasing velocity levels

I think the effects routing isn't made to honor the mute groups, only the main sound is the one that's muted, not the effect. You've already found this out though.

Maybe control that effect volume with a q-link? Is that possible?
So then when your mute group takes effect, you can manually control the muting of the effects also? I don't know, I'm just throwing it out there, I'm guessin..

You can't control effects settings with the q-link (unfortunately). Controlling the level/volume of the Pad with a q-link also only affects the original sound, not the delays.

One possibility however is to insert an Effect Change event in your sequence, that way you can change to an empty Effect set (which you can define in the Effect screen) when a certain note is played, and change back to the delay set afterwards. Doesn't work for live situations however, for that you can only resort to hitting the "Bypass" button in the Effect screen, that does mute the delays.

Another workaround would be to resample the sound with delay.
That way the new sample (including delay) can be muted.

Thank guys. Very helpful. Maybe this is something that they could add in the new OS, not as a fix but as an option.

Option 1: Let effect trail in mute group
Option 2: Mute effect in mute group
