MPC 2500 sliders + midi cc data

Hi there,

got one question:
do the sliders and knobs of the 2500 send midi controller data?
I can't find this function in the manual, but at www.thomann.de
they say that they do.
This would be one big reason for me to upgrade
from my 1000.

Hi,

i posted a similar question a few days ago. I don't think you can use the 2500's Q-Links to send MIDI CC data from its MIDI outs. The description at Thomann obviously refers to recording the slider events in the internal sequencer of the MPC. Maybe they'll add that in a later OS...

that question... So that means I still would have to use an external controller box for recording midi cc data with the 2500. Shit, I really hoped
they'd come up with that feature. I guess I'll wait for what the os update brings before selling my 1000...

If you talk about hooking a controller to your MPC, which generates MIDI CC data, i think it should be able to record these events in its sequencer. At least that's what the MIDI implementation table suggests. Haven't tried that myself however, and i'm not a MIDI pro, so i might be wrong there.

I just see, you can even enter CC events in your sequence manually...so yes, it should capture the controller events from the MIDI in.

This is correct.


Bandspieler7 - download the manual and check page 22. There is a little bit about program change here, but not quite what you are looking for.
The sliders are reserved for either;
1 - Input Thru feature - as a FX filter for the incoming audio signal.
2 - Pad Parameters - Filter, Cutoff etc for specific pads.
3 - Mixer feature - you can use them to control Gain and Pan in the mixer mode.
4 - Trim feature - you can use the slider as a quick way of editing start / end points of a sample.
(Correct me if Im wrong peps)

It is a shame that they haven't put more thought in to these sliders IMO, as they could be used in all sorts of ways.

I was also wondering whether the slider control settings are saved per program, or per pad, or per track. Does anyone know how they are saved once you set them?

I think it saves with the project file along with the effect settings. but i haven't checked that. project files is when you save the entire memory.

Hey, if you upgrade to the JJOS you can send midi cc data. When you press the afterlink button to turn the slider on, an option is available for cc, and you can pick your channel, and write that data into your sequence live.
