Hard Drive issues

I have the approved toshiba 40g hard drive

I had installed now for about a month with no problems, I turn my 2500 on this morning and I noticed that it had a kinda loud hum or at least I didnt notice it before coming from the HD area

I just ignored it thinking it was just normal or i didnt notice it before

but when I tried to switch to the hard drive on the load screen 1st it took almost 1 min. to switch from the memory card then once it did it was showing that it has 0 free space, I havent even loaded 1gig of sounds on it

so I tried turning the 2500 on and then off again and now the HD doesnt even show up at all

anyone had this issue?

P.S. loading and saving to the memory card works fine its just the HD thats actin crazy

It sounds as if your hard drive has crashed....at least that is my best guess. Since its new and should be still under warranty, just get another.

damn yo all these problems is getting on my damn nerves, i'm not gettin the hard drive or cd for my shit till this shit is sorted out.

If there is a problem with the hard drive...most likely, it has nothing to do with the MPC. Hard drives crash from time to time. It doesn't matter if they are installed in an MPC or a PC. Eventually, it will happen one day.

it was under warranty for 30 days and that has passed looks like I'll be buying a new one

I shoulda got 80g anyway

30 day warranty?? Was it a new drive?

my opinion is just like yours

but a lot of companies small or well known have different return and warranty policies, especially when it comes to electronics, small ones anyway

The small company may have a 30 day return policy...but the manufacturer..almost always...give at least a 1 year warranty. Especially on hard drives. Some manufaturers give 3-5 year warranties. These warranties usually have nothing to do with the small companies/retailers.

My Toshiba hard drive came with a 1 year warranty.

thats why I never save songs to a HD cuz damn near all of them crash from time to time

thats why I never save songs to a HD cuz damn near all of them crash from time to time

that's what backing up is for. every now and then you should always backup what you have on hard drives. not just with the mpc but with computers too.
