External usb-drive possible?

Just went thru the old posts concerning the hard
drive issues but didn't quite get it, ..english not being my mothertongue...
Some people were talking about the possibility of
a external USB-drive.. Did it mean that you could hook up
an external USB-drive directly to your MPC2500-USBport
and it would be the HD where you could save your work
and keep your samples. Did i get it wrong?

you can not use an external drive for the 2.5k. the usb port is a slave port only. you can only connect the mpc to your computer. in order to connect external gear to the mpc via usb, it has to have a host port.
