Just found that in the MPC1000 Forums and wanted to let everyone know that this works on the 2500 as well:

Owner Name:
Select Mode / Other.
Press F3 to reach the Footswitch screen, then F6.
What you enter here will be displayed as the MPC1000 boots.

Pad / Slider Test
discovered by mpc3000
Hold SHIFT and sequentially press D, C, B, A

From http://stereoroid.com/music/mpc1000/faq/

If anyone knows, or finds out about any other hidden screens or features, feel free to use this thread

Cheers,
Stilo

how is this beneficial in any way again

I thought the point was to make music

besides the 2500 already has a way to check pad sensitivity and sliders without the hidden screens

Well i just did the test and it would be nice if the sliders/knobs had a better resolution. If you twist the knob to max and then move it back, nothing happens for 2 increments, pretty poor.

Better resolution on the sliders would help no end in trim mode

The name trick's pretty cool, i just edited mine

I find the q-link knob terrible for setting the pan when your in mixer mode. its so hard to set it right in the middle.
