Hi,

Planning on buying the 2500, to replace the 1000.
I'm not very happy with 2.1 for the 1000 because it screwed up my mixersettings of old files.
Can someone tell me if that's the same when i put the 1000 files in the 2500?
Will it also f&*(ck up my mixersettings?

Kokos
ps. I'm not replacing because of this. I want to have the black beauty because of better features and the feel of the machine. i never really got used to the tinyness of the 1000, because i was used to play with the classic 2000

when i switched from the 1000 to the 2500 all my settings stayed the same as when i had the 1000. That's probably because i made a .all file w/ a template of how i wanted my sequences and saved in my autoload folder on my memory card. I think what ur expieriencing is akai making all the volumes set to 100 in new programs and the master level was changed to 0dB instead of -12dB.

But those settings are the same in the 2500 as in OS 2.1 for the 1000

The features that have in common are practically identical. The 2500 has better hardware and additional software features.

As far as the mixer settings....if they did mess up for some reason, I am sure that you can recreate or create new tracks just as hot :D

to add to what was said, if you do a search on the 1000 section around jan 20 of this year, you will see several people had similar situations as you did. yeah, some mixer settings for some people needed readjusting after upgrading to the 2.1 os but they were easily fixed. the os for the 2500 is in the same code as the os for the 1000. i'm pretty sure if you put those same seqs in the 2500, the same thing would happen. there are only a few differences in software between the 1000 and the 2500. as far as the black case, go back to the 1000 section and read up, akai is putting out a black kit for the 1000 to replace the red/blue scheme. so if you want the ability to have a cd-rom, 2 extra midi outs and a few more extra (not alot) then go with the 2500 but if you're only concerned with the mixer setting changes, stay with the 1000 and readjust your settings, then cop the black kit.

I think Sparq has stock in the MPC 1000 (I sold all my stock in the 2500 before you ask  ). Buying the MPC 1000 Black kit won't solve any problems. The 2500 doesn't have a CD-rom drive but a CD writer/DVD Rom drive (which burns audio CDs)...much better hardware...software additions are not alot in terms of numbers, but are major functions/enhancements.....and you still may have to tweak your tracks created with the older MPC 1000 OS when using the MPC 1000s 2.10 OS and the MPC 2500s 1.10 OS?? I think its very easy to make an informed choice :P

Just get a Lexus and be done with it instead of buying a Camry XLE with navigation and the leather seat package.

Could anyone tell me what they mean by "better hardware"?

I would suggest they mean the pads and knobs? Because i had the chance to compare both side by side and they sound the same.

The pads feel different, but hey....the 1000's pads are smaller....so there is a difference for sure.

But do people suggest any other hardware differences? A faster processor could be an option.....but i don't think they have other DA convertors and stuff.

Main question would be....this comment on better hardware is based on what? Guesses?

i think they mean general build quality, ie the pads. the 1k's pads are of an inferior design, and will breakdown sooner than the 2500's pads. i believe there are precious few other differences, apparently the cpu is the same, but i have yet to see proof.

The proof is using an MPC 1000 yourself and then using an MPC 2500 or vice versa. (I doubt many MPC 2500s users will switch to a 1000 though).

Just stop by your local GC and try them out.

that much i can agree with you on J. if you go first to the 2500, and see the "extras" the 2500 has that the 1000 doesn't and your pocket can take it..... i agree with you.

Does the auto chop (chop shop or what it's called) on the MPC2500 convert the chopped sample to mono as the MPC1000 does when you zone it on OS 2.10 (MPC1000)? Cuz that's quite annoying!
I'm thinking about selling my 1000 and buying the 2500. Tried it out in a local music store yesterday :P
