one handed producer...

hey im soon getting a 2500, i can only use 1 hand as i lost proper movement in one hand after having a big stroke. rekon i'l be able to manage with one hand ok?.. its not stopped me doing anything else, (apart from scratching!)

Yeah, i think you'll be alright. There are a couple of situations where using two hands are easy to do quick editing but not a necessity.
Also when recording with the Q-Link you could first record the pads and add the Q-Link movements with a second run.

I'm thinking about you scratching, can't you scratch with one hand and have some kind of pedal to act like a fader?

THANX MAN, .. its my left hand that dont work anymore, the hand i used to move the record, so i can still cut on the fader with one hand but my m8 is the illest on the cut anyway so he drops on my beats for me now

what does the q link slider do on an mpc then?

Q-link sliders (and knobs) do a couple of things. In TRIM mode you can use them to adjust start and endpoint of a sample (but you can also do it with the datawheel).
In MIXER mode you can adjust the volume and pan with them. And in normal screen you can assign them to a pad and change things like tune, filter, attack, decay, etc.

Even though you haven't got the 2500 yet, it's a good idea to check the (quick start) manual http://akaipro.com/supportdocuments.php#MPC2500

It must take you forever to put stuff together....I remember having cut my palm real bad and couln't use that hand for a few months and man did it suck . Trying to brush my teeth and tie my shoes with the other hand was so hard. Don't let anything get in your way if you love doing it....Much respect keep keepin on...

ph0cus - I remember you, you'll be fine, it may take a little longer than before to make stuff but you can still get down, just gotta have that patience..

it does take me a while to make my beats, but so does everything now, including washing dressing etc. i just have to learn to adapt. iv been really ill, and am lucky to be alive. tbh, i dont know how i would have gotten through without music, and makin beats.
i use software now, until i get an mpc so its ok using a mouse, just boring!

think of it this way, the more time now that it takes you to make music, you can find out new stuff with that time also. that time can be spent doing micro adjustments to your samples and stuff. alot of people say "how do I do this or that real quick" well, real quick isn't always good.

take that extra time now to fine tune your stuff and critically listen for faults, I'm not the quickest making beats either. I'll admit that, I am my worst critic..
