can someone explain the bug with the 2500 crashing wen saving?.. does it happen often? cos if it does im gonna buy a 1000 instead.

I have a approved akai hard drive and I have never once had this problem as alot of others.And then there are some that say it happens to them all the time so I'm still wondering if it is some kind of user error like maybe they tried to load some 24bit samples in before they tried to save and some corrupted or unuseable data might be whats the problem.

Well the problem that I was having seemed to be too many files in the ROOT folder . I changed my file systewm having only Folders in the Root and no samples , and have not had any errors Since then....I was havivg Wrong File errors on every save but this seems to be the way to do it.

The MPC 1000 may be a better fit for you. However, you may not have any better luck with the 1000.

no crashes on the 1k, from my own experiences. havent read about any either.

Cheerz mates...
For the record i have many folders in ROOT in my (akai approved) seagate HD.
Within those folders are more folders that contain anywhere from 300-700 samples in each.
Example of a few folders in ROOT:
Folder 1 -> 13 sub folders -> each folder contains 300-700 files. If i add the total # of samples that makes over 2,000 files for folder 1
Folder 2 -> 8 sub folders approx 300 samples in each (8X300= 2,400 total files for folder 2
In conclusion, i do not believe there is a problem with too many files.
I believe the problem may reside with either HD block errors or the MPC randomly corrupting some files on SAVE. So the next time you go to LOAD.....then we get those lovely surprises.

I have not had any of the problems you listed with either MPC 2500s OS. Now if you think that your problem with the 2500 will go away with the MPC 1000, you should pick it up..but at least do your own research on the 1000, which has its own quirks.

one of the shared saving bugs of both the 2500 and the 1000 is the so called "new folder bug"
so be careful.
i am confident that akai will fix the saving/file bugs in both machines shortly, since at this point they can simultaneously write the code for both machines

This is the proper way . I had files in just the root without folders, get it?
